This year marks the 15th anniversary of the September 11th terrorist attacks. At Randall Oaks Park, in West Dundee, 2,976 American flags stand in the “Field of Healing” in honor of the anniversary of this tragedy. Each flag has been tagged with with a victim’s name, age, biography and ribbon. The flags are in alphabetical order and a yellow ribbon is for citizens, red is for firefighters, blue is for police officers and white is for members of the flight crew. Each flag is neatly placed in columns and rows throughout the field.

In the center of all the flags is an 80-foot star which makes up the timeline of September 11th. The True Patriots Care organized this memorial and has been hosting flag tributes since 2010. This 9/11 flag tribute started Wednesday, the 7th, with an opening ceremony. The display will be free and open until Sunday, the 11th, which will include many first responders and anyone who was effected by the tragedy to be escorted by hundreds of motorcyclists from the Woodstock Harley-Davidson to Randall Oaks Park stating at 3 p.m.  The closing ceremony will start at 4 p.m. at the park. This moving tribute is a must see in the area.
