Diving into boy’s volleyball

Taylor Petruczenko, Yearbook Managing Editor

With the end of the year approaching, spring sports are in full swing, including boys volleyball. This season, there have been a few changes to the team, one of them being the coaching staff. This year the team’s head coach is Nicole Skrzypchak and the assistant coach is Kelle Brieger. With the new coaches leading the way, the team hopes to have an amazing season.

This season, the team has 12 players, and the one senior leading the way is Kyle Schelonka. Kyle Schelonka has been playing volleyball for all four years here at St. Edward and has been playing for about 8 years in general. He is the team’s libero and plays as an outsider. After practice, Kyle likes to relax by playing video games and working on his digital art. Most importantly, Kyle is a cat person.

This season, the boys have already played six games and they have 11 to go. Their first game of the season was a home game against Elgin High School where they put up a good fight but unfortunately lost. Their most recent game was also at home, but this time it was against Harvest Christian. Make sure to catch their next game on Monday the 18th at home against West Chicago.
