Starbucks or StarBUST?

Gabriella Sarullo and Lily Burger

‘Tis the season for seasonal drinks! We tried six seasonal drinks at Starbucks so you don’t have to this holiday season!

Iced Sugar Cookie Oatmilk:

Gabby: It was not horrible, but I was disappointed with the flavor. To me, it had a hint of sugar cookie flavor, but other than that it was very milky which affected the taste. I had high expectations when going in to try it, but overall it tasted not good. I did enjoy the sprinkles on top which made it fun to drink. 5/10

Lily: It smelled exactly like a sugar cookie, but it didn’t taste like a sugar cookie. Honestly, it had a weird aftertaste too and I was expecting more since it was hyped up so much. The sprinkles were a nice touch though. 4/10

Toasted White Chocolate:

Gabby: This drink tasted mostly like a normal hot chocolate, which is sad because I was expecting it to taste more like white chocolate. I do not know how a drink can be toasted, but this drink was not at all. I think this drink could’ve been better if there was more white chocolate flavoring.  4/10

Lily: It was basic and I barely tasted the white chocolate. The best way I can describe this is that it was like drinking milky coffee or like a below-average hot chocolate. I don’t know what exactly was supposed to be toasted about this drink either. This drink did not live up to its name. 3/10

Peppermint Mocha:

Gabby:  My favorite one out of all the flavors that we tried. Peppermint Mocha is just a classic Christmas flavor and it did not disappoint this year. It had a perfect mix of peppermint and chocolate flavor which just works so well together. 10/10

Lily:  This was the best. No notes. You can’t go wrong with a classic, it is perfect hot or cold. This is my go-to drink for the holiday season, and it should be yours too. 10/10

Apple Crisp Macchiato:

Gabby: I was surprised by this drink. Having the apple crisp flavor in coffee is a pretty good combination that I did not think I would like. This drink screams fall and is the perfect drink to have on a nice fall night while you still can before winter comes along. I did not think I would like this drink as much as I did, it was one of my favorites out of all the drinks we tried. 6/10

Lily: This was definitely a more fall flavor and it totally personified the season. It had both an apple and cinnamon flavor to it that reminded me of a crisp fall day. This drink took a couple of sips to get into but once I had some more of it, I ended up liking it more than I thought I would. 7/10

Caramel Brule Latte:

Gabby: This drink was not very good. It lacked a lot of caramel flavor, which made the drink taste like milk. I am not the biggest fan of caramel myself, so the caramel that I did taste, was not enjoyable for me. Overall, this drink was not awful, but I definitely was disappointed because this was one of their newer holiday flavors. 3/10

Lily: It wasn’t bad, but it tasted like someone thought about caramel but forgot to add it to the drink. It really needed more caramel for a drink whose name has the word caramel in it. I was excited about this because I love their caramel drinks, but this was a let-down. 5/10
