The St. Edward Green Wave baseball team looks to bounce back from last year’s below .500 winning average. In 2015, the Green Wave finished 10-19, and 5-14 in conference play. Although it was a disappointing season in some ways, the Green Wave had one special win last year in their first Regional game. In the bottom of the 7th the Wave had an outstanding comeback win to advance them to the Regional Semifinal.

The baseball team graduated 9 seniors including Division 1 prospect Jake LaFrenz, who took his talents to Coastal Carolina University. The Green Wave will have to rely on both upper and new underclassmen on the varsity squad to make big plays throughout the year. Senior Noah Enright commented “We have lost a lot of talent, but gained a decent amount of younger talent. If we are able to put everything together we can make a big run in the post season.”

The St. Edward Green Wave open the season with a non-conference game against Larkin. Seniors Jason Allen, Dylan Murray, Joe Esposito, Karl Bibler, and Noah Enright are all looking to boost the team to an improved record this season. A bright spot last year was the speed and smarts the boys showed on the bases. They tallied 54 stolen bases and hope to build on that.
The Wave is hoping for a strong start to the season and to gel before they hit conference play in April.  They play all home games at Wing Park in Elgin.
