What happened in the stock markets after the United States took control of Venezuela? Which businesses flourished from this and which declined? It was a great outcome for most shareholders in the oil industry and military-contracted companies along with some other miscellaneous companies. However, not every company flourished from the outcome, especially not every oil industry.
A national market such as Chevron (CVX) was able to flourish from this by skyrocketing 12.34% return in the past month, which is very great for shareholders. Another big market mover was Lockheed Martin (LMT), which also skyrocketed to a 23.34% return in the past month as well. However, this is not an oil company. They have the biggest military contract with the U.S. Lockheed Martin (LMT) was the most substantial from the other companies that contribute to the military. The other military companies such as Northrup Gruman (NOC), Honeywell (HON), Boeing (BA), RTX Corp (RTX), General Dynamics (GD), and General Electric (GE) all went up a substantial amount during this time compared to other stock prices.
Other oil companies rose a substantial amount. However, they didn’t all rise; it was more of a diverse spread between falling a decent amount and rising a decent amount. Some oil companies that took a dip down were Northern Oil and Gas (NOG), and Occidental Petroleum (OXY), which are just some of the companies that took a dip. There were more shots than going down such as HF Sinclair (DINO), Exxon Mobil (XOM), BP (BP), and of course Chevron (CVX) along with many others that have gone up.
Everything went up substantially in the markets, not just oil stocks and military contracted companies. There were very little food corporations and restaurants that went up such as Dine Brands (DIN) which is just one of the very few; most went down such as McDonald’s (MCD) and Hormel (HRL). Major Shipping companies went up such as UPS (UPS) and FedEx (FDX).
January was a great month for the markets over all because of the invasion of Venezuela. This gave great opportunities to buy and sell stocks across the market.
