For all Chicago Bears fans, I’m sure we were all stoked with how the team had been playing this season. Sadly, on January 18, we saw the close but disappointing loss for the Chicago Bears.
For everyone paying attention to the Chicago Bears, they finished their regular season with a record of 11-6. This earned them a wild card spot and hosted the Green Bay Packers in their first playoff game. In the game against the Packers, the Bears won 31-27. This game was really a seat clencher, where the Bears were originally down by 15 before having a major comeback with 25 fourth-quarter points. DJ Moore got the game-winning touchdown against the packers.
Another stressful game to watch was the game against the LA Rams. This game ended up being close in the end when Caleb Williams threw a deep ball into the end zone to Cole Kmet through all the pressure. In the end, this was the incredible touch down that led into overtime, due to the tie game, giving the Bears another chance. Disappointingly, the Bears ended up losing this game, ending their playoff run.
To brighten things up, there are many great highlights to this season. Caleb Williams holds the most comeback wins for the Bears and in the NFL; he also holds the single season passing yard record for Bears quarterbacks. Colston Loveland holds the single-game record for the most receiving yards for a tight end in playoff history and for a rookie during his game against the Packers. Kevin Byard had 7 interceptions the most in the NFL for the season. Caleb Williams won the division before Jordan Love, the Packers quarterback, did in only 2 years. The Bears had the best draft class this year; Luther Burden had a great year as a rookie along with Colston Loveland being one of the best tight ends as a rookie. Kyle Monangai also had a great season as a rookie. Ozzy Trapilo was a great offensive line weapon helping protect Caleb Williams just as a rookie. The offensive line helped protect Caleb more with fewer sacks this year with the help of great weapons such as Jonah Jackson, Drew Dalmon, Darnell Wright, Joe Thuney, along with Ozzy Trapilo and Theo Benedet. The O-Line consists of five, but these were the main weapons truly helping Caleb this season. Caleb’s key offensive running backs were D’Andre Swift and Kyle Monangai. His key tight end weapons were Cole Kmet, Durham Smyte, and Colston Loveland. Caleb’s great receiving core was DJ Moore, Rome Odunze, Olamdea Zacheaus, Jadae Walker, and outstanding rookie Luther Burden.
Throughout the whole season, there was much improvement in everything by the Bears. Although it felt cut short, there were a lot of good games played and history made. Hopefully next season we can keep this strong playing but bring it up to another level, continuing the streak of improvement for our beloved Bears.
