Homecoming Week this year was held September 11-16, 2023. It was a week full of traditions, such as dress downs, a pep rally, powderpuff games, TPing the school, and culminated with the dance. The week’s dress downs were a success in amplifying the homecoming spirit throughout the school. Students demonstrated their school spirit by wearing pajamas on Monday; underclassmen dressed as preschoolers and upperclassmen dressed in college gear on Tuesday; on Wednesday everyone wore their favorite “Barbenheimer” outfits; Thursday students wore their class shirts or dressed as their class decade; and Friday ended the week with students showing their school spirit by wearing spirit wear.
Thursday night resurrected the tradition of TPing the school, with many students doing their best to cover every square inch of the school with toilet paper. Friday ended the week with many festivities, such as the pep rally which included the announcement of the Senior Homecoming Court: Evan Sperling, Andrew Walker, Joseph Lee, Joshua Pottorff, Jack Wright, Taryn Lemezis, Annaly Soto, Charlie Franquelli, Lauren Menendez, and Caitlyn Madsen. Joseph Lee and Lauren Menendez were crowned Homecoming King and Queen at halftime of the football game later in the evening. Continuing Friday’s events, Freshmen first beat Sophomores and then went on to beat the Juniors during the annual powderpuff games.
The soccer team gave our school some homecoming excitement on Friday night by pushing their game into double overtime causing the game to end with penalty kicks, where they brought the Greenwave so close to victory. Following the soccer game, alumni were welcomed back to campus and students dressed up in all white for paint wars at the annual football game. To conclude Homecoming week, students got all dressed up for the Homecoming dance which was held in the St. Edward gym on Saturday night.
