St. Edward students have been depressed ever since the vending machines by Door 8 went missing. The absence of their beloved snack and drink dispensers left many students feeling deprived and frustrated, as these machines had long been a reliable source of quick refreshments during hectic school days. However, the facility has finally decided to put an end to the issue and bring these machines back and better than ever.
The new vending machines are set to include some exciting updates. The machines will now offer a unique selection, including an energy drink machine that will be filled upon request, catering to the needs of students looking for a quick pick-me-up. Additionally, a Dr. Pepper machine will be added, along with various other Coke products, ensuring there’s something for everyone. Though details remain scarce, word has already spread, and excitement is building. Sophomore Ava Pierce, ’27, shared her enthusiasm: “I can’t wait for the new vending machines. They’re going to make life so much easier for us.” However, not everyone is pleased with the new development. Seniors are enraged by the news, upset that they will not get to enjoy the revamped vending machines before graduation. Senior Teagan Merlin, ’25, lamented, “Bro, this is so stupid, the underclassmen get everything. They got new math classes, new art classes, and new vending machines. What the heck!”
The frustration felt by seniors highlights the sense of inequity some upperclassmen feel as they prepare to leave St. Edward without experiencing the full benefits of these new amenities. For many, it’s a bittersweet reminder that their time at school is coming to an end before they can fully take advantage of the improvements. On the other hand, the underclassmen couldn’t be happier to hear about the new machines. Many students who have longed for an easier way to grab a snack or drink between classes and after-school sports are excited by the convenience this will bring. Now, after a long day of practice or study, they’ll be able to grab a cold drink or snack directly from the vending machine, saving time and energy.
While the new vending machines may not be available to seniors, they do represent a positive change for the school community. With students now able to satisfy their cravings with ease, the sense of school spirit is likely to grow. Perhaps this will lead to even more improvements in the future as St. Edward continues to modernize its facilities.
