The NFL playoffs are officially over and the Superbowl is set the Philadelphia Eagles Vs the Kansas City Chiefs. You might be wondering “Hey didn’t we just see this a couple years ago?” Yes, we did, three years ago this was the matchup, it was a hard game to watch with a phantom defensive holding penalty deciding the game, the penalty ruling in favor for the Chiefs. But I can tell you this everybody is happy (maybe except for the New York Giants) that Saquan Barkley is in the Superbowl. But the question we need to answer is how did we get back to this Superbowl matchup? Who let this happen, whose shoulders is it on that Patrick Mahomes is in the Superbowl again? We are going to find that out right now. On that note, let’s take it round by round and game by game and see how every team did.
The Wildcard round was wild, hence the name. The matchups for the AFC: Included Bills vs. Broncos, Ravens vs. Steelers, and Texans vs. Chargers. The NFC was: Eagles vs. Packers, Buccaneers vs. Commanders, and Rams vs. Vikings. To start off the Eagles beat the Packers 22-10, on the back of 2 Jalen Hurts passing touchdowns. But the next game Buccaneers vs. Commanders, was a nail biter scoring at 23-20. This game was won by a last second field goal by recently signed Commanders kicker Zane Gonzalez. Last in the NFC is the game that was a snooze fest Viking vs. Rams. You think the Vikings who went 14-3 this season would put up a fight against the Rams? Wrong, Rams blew them out with a score of 27-9. On to the AFC, all blow outs. The Bills took the Broncos down 31-7. due to Josh Allen being an outstanding football player. The Texans demolished the Chargers 32-12. Justin Herbert thew 4 interceptions which decided it. The Ravens sent the Steelers packing with a score of 28-14. Death, Taxes, and the Steelers in the playoffs. Derrick Henry decided this game for Baltimore by rushing for 186 yards and 2 touchdowns.
Next the divisional round NFC: Lions vs. Commanders and Eagles vs. Rams. AFC: Chiefs vs. Texans and Bills vs. Ravens. Starting with the AFC, the Chiefs soundly took the Texans down with a score of 23-14. The Bills barely edged out the victory against the Ravens 27-25. This game was decided by 3 turnovers, 2 of them coming from Lamar Jackson. In the NFC, the underdog Commanders beat the brakes off the Lions 45-31, at their home turf Ford Field. Including 4 interceptions by the Lions. The Eagles squeaked out the victory against the Rams 28-22, Saquan Barkley with a performance of a lifetime 205 yards and 2 touchdowns, with the longest on the day being 78 yards.
The Championship round to punch your ticket to the biggest stage. We have these glorious matchups, the Chiefs Vs the Bills and the Eagles Vs the Commanders. The Chiefs beat the Bills 32-29 with Patrick Mahomes leading the charge with 3 touchdowns. This game falls on the shoulders of the defense. They gave Mahomes open lanes to throw and run all day while Josh Allen tried to keep up. America wants to see Josh Allen in the Superbowl. The Philadelphia Eagles ran through the Commanders with a score of 55-23. When I say ran through I mean it: 7 combined rushing touchdowns for the Eagles. With Both Jalen Hurts and Saquon Barkley having 3 each.
So, the Superbowl is set, and I am excited to watch it. That’s how we got there, this year’s playoffs was a wild one from the best team in the league falling to a rookie quarterback, to the Superbowl favorites losing in horrific fashion to the number 1 seed. The turnovers these playoffs were absolutely bananas way more than previous years and that seems to be the reason most teams lost their game, which would be reasonable because you can’t throw 4 interceptions and expect to win a playoff game. Bear Down, Chicago Bears.
