There are many chicken places around the area that all have chicken sandwiches in some shape or form. Many people wonder which place has the best chicken. The two places with the broadest menus and most comparable items are Dave’s Hot Chicken and Chick-fil-A. Both places are primarily known for their chicken sandwiches. Which is the best overall?
Chick-fil-A is said to have the best fries; most people say this because of the shape and taste of the fries. The style of fries they have are waffle fries. Dave’s Hot Chicken has good fries as well. Their regular crinkle cut fries are bursting with flavor, as they have come up with a mix of seasonings which gives it good flavor and spice.
Chick-fil-A has a vast amount of great food on their menu, from their fries to chicken sandwiches. Dave’s Hot Chicken also has a wide variety of flavors and spice levels. In a survey sent to the St. Edward student body, Chick-fil-A was the best with flavor in the people’s opinion. 65% of people voted that they preferred the taste of Chick-fil-A’s food. Alaina Nolan, ’26 said, “I enjoy both, but Dave’s has better seasoning.” Both places are of great quality in presentation of food and design of interior; nothing too fancy or extravagant, they both have a welcoming house feel and good quality food. They both have a nice and intricate way of presenting their food. Dave’s presents their food in a basket and has a nice establishment, with each art design in the building being unique. Chick-fil-A has preferably better quality between the two franchises with 57% of people prefer Chick-fil-A quality while others did not mainly like Dave’s Hot Chicken’s quality as much. Luis Vargas, ’25, claims, “They are both very good.”
Pricing is a huge deal when it comes to bringing in customers. They each have greatly priced items and great deals. Chick-fil-A has more deals than Dave’s Hot Chicken does, such as redeemable points in the app. However, Dave’s Hot Chicken has better priced items. Yet according to the survey, 71% thought Chick-fil-A had better priced items compared to Dave’s Hot Chicken.
Taste is everything when it comes to mac & cheese, frozen beverages, and especially signature sauce. Mac & cheese is a big deal as a side dish at restaurants. Everyone loves it, some places make it better than others. Some people like it creamy and others like it cheesy and thick. Chick-fil-A has a nice thick and cheesy mac & cheese. Dave’s Hot Chicken’s mac & cheese is creamy and cheesy. More people like Chick-fil-A’s mac & Cheese with 65% of people preferring it over the Dave’s Hot Chickens. Shakes and frozen slushies help to cool off your mouth after eating a spicy meal. Dave’s Hot Chicken frozen drinks are nice and fruity. Chick-fil-A shakes are thick and creamy. 78% of people preferred Chick-fil-A’s shakes over Dave’s Hot Chicken slushies. Sauce can be a flavor enhancer, or a coat signature sauce that everyone loves. Chick-fil-A sauce is very popular and is sold in stores. However, more students preferred Chick-fil-A’s sauce with 71% of people liking it over Dave’s Hot Chicken.
Chick-fil-A was able to secure the unanimous vote across all categories. But if Dave’s Hot Chicken continues to grow as a franchise, who knows what the outcomes may be in the future.
Fast food chicken is a big deal especially when you have so much to offer. Convenience and availability are a big thing as well when it comes to these places. Chick-fil-A is more convenient for other people, which was able to secure it the unanimous vote across all categories. Dave’s Hot Chicken is new to the stage of fast-food chicken; it just started up in 2017. Not many Dave’s Hot Chicken locations are close, which could have potentially skewed our survey results. If Dave’s Hot Chicken continues to grow as a franchise, who knows what the outcomes may be in the future.
