The World Series is like the Superbowl of baseball. Every baseball fan watches it. They wait the whole season to see who makes it. When it gets to October and the season is almost over, the top 12 teams go to the playoffs. The teams were split up in the beginning between the National League and the American League. The teams start off with the wild card round where the bottom teams have a best out of 3 games. The winners would then face the top two seeds in the divisional round which is the best of 3 as well. The winners would go onto the championship series which is a best out of 7 games. Then, at the World Series, the best teams of the American league and National leagues face off.
The teams going into the play offs were the Philadelphia Phillies, Baltimore Oriels, Los Angeles Dodgers, the New York Yankees, New York Mets, Atlanta Braves, Milwaukee Brewers, Houston Astros, Cleveland Guardians, Detroit Tigers, San Diego Padres, and the Kansas City Royals. The top teams going into the playoffs were the Philadelphia Phillies, Baltimore Oriels, Los Angeles Dodgers, and the New York Yankees.
Some of the teams heading into the playoffs had some great superstars and future hall-of-famers. Some of the most notable players are Bryce Harper, Aaron Judge, Bobby Witt Jr., Fernando Tatis Jr., and Shohei Ohtani. The most controversy was about the addition of Shohei Ohtani to the Dodgers. He became a free agent and got offered $700 million and took the chance. Another player was Juan Soto, who was traded to the New York Yankees. Both players were great additions to their team; they each helped boost their teams into the playoffs.
Going into the playoffs, the teams’ records were outstanding. The Los Angeles Dodgers had a record of 98-64, Phillies were 95-67, Brewers 93-69, Padres 93-69, Braves and Mets were both 89-73, Yankees were 94-68, Guardians 92-69, Astros 88-73, Oriels 91-71, Royals 86-76, and the Tigers were 86-76 as well. The finalists show themselves with just their records.
The match ups were all great match ups. In the National League, the Mets beat the Brewers. The next round is the Divisional Round. The Guardians beat the Tigers, and the Yankees beat the Royals on the American League side. Meanwhile the Phillies lost to the Mets. Gavin Brunner said, “The most shocking upset was the Phillies.” The Championship series was set Guardians VS Yankees and Mets VS Dodgers. The Yankees Prevailed over the Guardians to win the American League. The Dodgers beat the Mets to win the National league. The stage was set for the Yankees to play the Dodgers for the World Series. “This is the Most predicted World Series,” Gavin Brunner said.
The World Series is set its best out of 7 games. The Dodgers were leading in the series with a 3-0 record over the Yankees. During the second game, star player Shohei Ohtani for the Dodgers got hurt. The Yankees won game 4 of the World Series. The Yankees began to catch up, with the record being 3-1, Dodgers. Everyone thought the Yankees would have a comeback, but the Dodgers won game five, which made them World Series Champions for the second time in five years.
