From being born in California to later moving to Illinois, our new staff member, Ms. Reda is bringing a wealth of education to our St. Edward family. She is a unique and exquisite history and psychology teacher at St. Edward High School and couldn’t be more excited about joining the community. When Ms. Reda graduated from high school, she planned on majoring in psychology, but immediately found a passion for philosophy, and later a passion for sociology. Her undergraduate degree is in philosophy, and she has an endorsement in both sociology and psychology.
Ms. Reda not only has worked as a teacher, but she has also worked at Starbucks as a barista. She enjoys communicating and interacting with others, which is why she thought it was a perfect fit for her. One reason that she absolutely loves St. Edward is because of the students. She is in awe of how wonderful the students are and wouldn’t change them for anything. One piece of advice that she would give to her students is that “it is never as hard as we think it is.”
Ms. Reda’s favorite food is cheese. “Cheese is the best food and there is nothing better,” she stated. Her least favorite food is fish. When Ms. Reda used to live in California, she lived close enough to the beach that the smell of fish was too much for her; after that, she started to not like it. Thanksgiving is usually everyone’s favorite holiday because of the food, but Ms. Reda mentioned, “My favorite holiday is Thanksgiving because it brings everyone close together.” She thinks the most rewarding part about teaching is getting to know her students because it is such a wonderful feeling, and she gets a better understanding of them. She is extremely excited about this school year and can’t wait to keep making memories!
