At the start of every year, people create a New Year resolution so they can have a fresh start to the new year. The goal of making a New Year resolution is to become a better version of yourself, physically and mentally. Something else that should be on people’s New Year, specifically teenagers in high school, is to get a head start on preparing for the 2nd semester of the school year.
A good way to get a head start on the school year is to prepare yourself mentally and physically for your classes. The first thing, which is the most important thing, is to get enough sleep. Sleep is the key to success in life because without it, our brains can’t properly function. Teens need to get 8 to 10 hours of sleep so they can be fully rested. The next step would involve spending some money; you will need to buy a planner that can help keep you up to date on assignments because late work will set you behind. It is going to mentally and emotionally drain you to try and catch up. The third thing would be to study for every test you have. Studying is the best way to pass a test and many people don’t do it. Either because they didn’t have the time, didn’t know how to, or just didn’t feel the need to. The overall goal in studying and keeping track of your work is so that you can help your future self to have a stress-free semester.
Senior Azel Mangoba has her way of preparing for the 2nd semester of school. Azel said, “I usually take a lot of naps and rests throughout winter break especially the day before. I do this so I can get back my energy and be prepared to go back to school.” Many people have their way of preparing for the 2nd semester. Preparing earlier can help lead to a more stress-free semester and better grades. If you don’t have a plan for the next semester, I recommend that you find some time over break to reset before the 2nd semester.
