Swinging into girls softball

Taylor Petruczenko, Yearbook Editor-in-Chief

After the halt in sports the last two years, softball is back in full swing with a very busy season including a total of 27 games. While they may not have won every single game, they made sure to have fun and work hard. This year the team had 11 players, with one returning senior: Delaney Nolan. With coaches Jerry Kublank, Erv Grenand, and Paul Netzel in the lead they were bound to have an amazing season.

This year the softball team will be losing one of its key member’s Delaney Nolan. Delaney has been on the team for all 4 years here at St. Edward, and has been playing softball for seven years. When she was young, her dad strangely encouraged her to play, and she is very happy he did. When asked about what her favorite aspect of her sport is she responded saying, “My favorite aspect of softball is getting a good workout and my teammates.”

While the season was fun, sadly it is ending, and with the season (and school year) coming to an end we have to say goodbye to our seniors. The softball team is losing a vital member and will be both sad and happy to see her go. While she will be missed, the team will prevail. The team is finishing off their season with the IHSA regional tournament on the 16th.  The team will be playing at the Elgin Sports Complex and they hope everyone can be there.
